Cicle Path

In spite of its mountainous nature, or perhaps because of it, Trentino can boast a traditional enthusiasm for cycling. The people of this area have always passionately followed the successes of their champions, over the peaks of the most famous Alpine passes; these destinations are also sought after by devotees of two wheels who confirm that a passion for cycling, as well as support for its favourites, can also be an excellent way for keeping in shape. The shift in technology has spread this passion, even on mountain bike, taking it up mountain paths and peaks, already well visited destinations.
The population of cyclists does not consist solely of those who ride in the mountains. The passion for grand cycling tours has become an interesting alternative to the traditional holiday and the number of cycling tourists is ever increasing. They are real adventurers, armed with an intellectual curiosity about what is possible to see and discover only at the gentle pace of a bicycle ride. Out of this came the provincial project to provide Trentino's valleys with protected cycle paths, available to all categories of cyclist, whether trained athletes or Sunday pedallers. The idea of building a network of cycle paths, inter-linked where possible, means the start of a new, cycle tourism scheme that Trentino aims to promote. As has already happened in central and north European countries, where to all intents and purposes cycle tourism is a significant tourist resource, in Trentino, too, the provision of communication routes other than those for cars opens greater opportunities for a new kind of eco-compatible tourism, at least in our region.
